As our continued growth opens up new possibilities, our client,  a leading manufacturing company specialising in precision components for various industries. Are are seeking an experienced Centre Lathe Operator, trade qualified fitter and turner, to join their team. The ideal candidate will have exceptional skills in operating manual lathes, particularly in turning large components up to 600mm in diameter and 8 meters long, as well as smaller components up to 300mm in diameter and 3 meters long.

Responsibilities :
  • Execute the manufacture of products and components per work orders, drawings, and instructions.
  • Utilise exceptional skills in manual lathe operation to turn large components up to 600mm in diameter and 8 meters long, as well as smaller components up to 300mm in diameter and 3 meters long.
  • Assist with material and component selection and handling to ensure precision and accuracy in the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain identification and traceability of manufactured products for quality control purposes.
  • Perform and record results of in-process inspections on manufactured components and assemblies according to instructions.
  • Report any non-conformities to the Leading Hand or Production Manager for immediate resolution.
  • Actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement within the organisation's manufacturing processes.
  • Operate machinery in a safe manner and in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) Regulations.
  • Perform other duties as directed and trained to do from time to time.
Requirements :
  • Demonstrated experience as a Centre Lathe Operator with exceptional skills in manual lathe operations.
  • Trade qualification as a fitter and turner.
  • Ability to operate manual lathes to turn components up to 600mm in diameter and 8 meters long with precision and accuracy.
  • Experience in turning smaller components up to 300mm in diameter and 3 meters long is essential.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to exacting tolerances.
  • Knowledge of material selection and handling for various components.
  • Excellent understanding of quality control processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WH&S Regulations.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
